Windswept Sentinel

Years ago when I first moved to Maine I painted this little windswept tree and its environs many many times. I even used it on my brochures as sort of signature. I thought it would last forever. Nature had other ideas. One day when I went to paint, it was gone. Either it was really swept by the wind or cut down. I will never know. So now whenever I go to paint at Boothbay Shores I think of the little tree and sometimes I will put my memory of it in my painting. This was one of this those days. We painters are so lucky that we can paint our memories.
