The Rocky Coast

Maine is full of cottages hugging her cliffs. It is a challenge to try to capture that feeling of isolation and independence that makes people seek out these places to live.  It was a cold and windy day in November when I painted this. I would not want to be in one of those cottages during this weather.
I used a very smooth linen canvas which allowed me to pick up the underpainting easily and create the rocky cliff. Such a treat!
